This blunt and sharp vision of Collodi’s novel supports its polymorphic structure, which has always provided the impetus to multiple interpretations.

Through its deliberately fragmented, portioned and dispensed style, the goal of this work is to show the observer the gloomiest aspect of the story and its Gothic underpinnings.
These aspects tend to get lost in the collective imagination, thanks to such sugar-coated interpretations as Disney’s.

What may seem like a literary nuance is now an undeniable reality of our everyday world.
A Pinocchio that has been deceived, chained, exploited, stabbed, hung, arrested and unjustly imprisoned lives in the same conditions as those of migrants coming to the ‘beautiful land of toys’.

Our fairy tale, as well as the stories of abuse and violence that all too often accompany the integration of migrants from every land and in every era, are the key to interpreting this fragment of ‘Black Pinocchio’.
